Dog Days of August: The Post That’s Sure to Get A Lot of Likes

I thought I’d depart from the normal routine and introduce you to the newest member of my family… Dimple!

Dimple is a rescue dog, a stray found living in the streets of Philadelphia, then transferred up to the “country” in the hopes of finding a loving home.  She sure got one!

My kids have been asking for a dog for as long as they’ve been verbal and cognizant of pet ownership. If you’re a regular reader, you will remember when we tried to compromise with a hamster (read here for the outcome of that decision), but we’ve finally decided that the timing is right, the kids are old enough and responsible enough, and my husband hasn’t progressed far enough in his OCD that he is wearing tissue boxes on his feet (YET).

This dog is supposed to belong to the kids, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I am going to have a new best friend once school starts.  As I sit here and type, I am able to snap this shot, right next to me:

Today’s Miracle:

I’m thinking about it and, yep, a dog roaming around this house counts as one 🙂

    • Thanks for the comment Sherry, and you are right, she is a miracle. When you read what I published today, please keep this in mind: once I settled down last night, I SERIOUSLY had the following thought: “Well, at least I didn’t have to clean out the fridge.” And then I laughed, and now I am going to clean out the fridge today to punish myself for that thought 🙂

  4. This post needs a “love” button!
Congratulations on Dimples. As a dog-lover/owner for over 40 years I can confidently say that she will bring love to you and your family 100-fold. I also really love your picture…beautiful woman inside and out. xo

(PS: My little rat terrier Macy is laying right beside me as I type this. She likes Dimples, too!)

    • I will say, it’s only been a few days, and even my husband is coming around. This dog is too good to be true! People warned me against rescue dogs (behavioral problems and the like), but this is the best dog I’ve ever seen 🙂

Thanks for the compliment with the picture… it was as au naturale as you can get! I looked at it and thought, “You need a glamour shot next!!”

But, more seriously, wait until you read today’s post. Prepare to be amazed!!!

  8. Ha ha…look at the comments flying! lol. Internet was created by a cat and dog team I swear. Put a dog or cat pic on Twitter and watch the stars from faves light up your little screen…lol.

Having said that, the wee one is a cutie. And you two look like two peas in a pod there – happy to be together. And yeah, that dog is really going to be yours. lol. (your daughter and you look so much alike…wow!)

    • Paul, if I had a nickel for every time someone said my daughter looks like me…

And the hilarious part is… I don’t see it! People think I am crazy, but I think Reilly looks more like my husband. However, I stand alone with this thought.

Nothing like throwing up a picture of a pet for some instant popularity 🙂 However, for real, check out what I put up today, I KNOW you will get the chills from this story, just as I did (chills in a very good way) 🙂
